Message: The reason for the two overprints, was simply one of expediency caused by the necessity of secrecy and the speed with which this had to take place. In the week prior to their issue on the 21.6.48 several printers had been extremely busy. The printworkers themselves during the course of this were not permitted to go home, and there were guards placed at the printworks to prevent this. Several of the printworkers involved have been interviewed, both with regard to this and also re the numerous overprint varieties that exist. kind regards Nigel Chandler
