Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Hello Frank, The reference to '3-digit prices' presumably arises from Michel on p 894 (in my 2004 edition of the Briefe-Katalog) between the sections on AM stamps and posthorn overprints. Whereas inland 10x frankings of 21. and 22. Juni 1948 are quoted from as low as 20 Euros (and can still be bought for much less!) they then screw up completely under 'Besondere Verwendungformen...' by quoting a 300 Euro bonus for foreign letters. I don't know whether that is a misprint for 30 (and even that is high) -- I suspect so, since the bonus quoted for a censored letter is just 10 Euros, and by 1948 censorship of inland mail had largely dried up. Whatever the case, I still pick up 10x frankings including foreign mail from as little as £1, and I have occasionally seen them go unsold on German eBay when the start price is only 1,99 Euros! So don't be deterred, collect on! Of course, some of the really scarce items are more expensive.
