Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Hi Nigel, I find this a very interesting period; especially covers, which are not easy to find, as so much was lost in WWII. Forgeries, there are obviously plenty especially when offered in mint sets. However, any overprinted stamp is reasonably easy to forge. Even so, some forgeries make a good display in a collection; provided you realise what they are and dont pay too much for them. Is "Dr Dub" signed always a forgery? I realise that most of the books and studies are in German, but reasonably easy to understand, a lot harder to speak or write; the grammar can be hard. The "Die Sachseischen Schwarzungen 1945 Band 2, is a very useful book, but only covers Sachsen territory, I admit that this area seems to have had the most variety especially in the obliterated hitler head period. I will apply to join this group, and hope we can exchange information. Regards Tony
