Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Hi Tony, an interesting area I will agree, and within the GCPS there are a number of collectors. Most of the literature concerning this period is in German, and much came to light following the reunification of the two Germanies. With regard to Sächsische Schwärzungen I would advise on checking, a goodly number of forgeries exist, mostly affecting the stamps, but some covers are also forged. Membership of a society can assist in detecting this. There are also some German philatelic websites that have an area for non German speakers. These as a source of information can prove invaluable. kind regards Nigel
