Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Many thanks for the helpful reply. Yes, I would like to borrow the two books by Doberer (Library 540 and especially 541). I'm not familiar with the Society's borrowing rules. Do I need to contact you separately as Librarian, with my address? My source for the statement that Bavaria 1911 was the first use of photolithography in producing stamps was a short article on the web simply called "Collectible German Stamps" (from Collectors Weekly )containing the comment "Germany became the first country using photolithography in 1911 with a series celebrating the 90th birthcday of Prince Regent Luitpold; two [sic] years later stamps featuring his son Ludwig III were the first to use the photogravure process". These are firm and unambiguous statements, but alas the short article cites no further authorities for them.
