Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Thanks for the image sent direct. The basic, unoverprinted stamp is the October 1923 5 million Mark lilac-red (Michel Nr. 317). The bright blue ‘75’ overprint, with its ‘7’ set slightly higher than the ‘5’, appears to be a completely spurious and amateurish addition perhaps made to be passed off as one of the authorised regionally overprinted (OPD-Drucke) stamps when in September 1923 the Government Printing Office simply could not keep up with the rapid devaluation of the Mark.
