Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Hello Mr Tountas – your stamp (Michel 290) is curious as in the image it appears as light blue rather than a shade of green as listed (the 400M green was not previously issued without its overprint). It is possible the stamp has either been exposed to strong light or a chemical resulting in bleaching. This may then also have had the same effect on the black-green (rather than just black) overprint so where the overprint overlaps the white of the original stamp it shows up as yellowish-green. Michel does not list such a colour variation or overprint anomaly. The normal stamp in genuinely used condition is priced by Michel at just 2 Euros. By the way many parts of the Michel Deutschland-Spezial Katalog (including the whole of the German Reich section) are also available in English translation. We can supply this catalogue and many others to our members at 20% discount + postage. Regards Giles du Boulay Chairman G&CPS
