| Message: | I wonder whether this refers to Michel 342 III, which was issued in September 1955. Tne 'new design' of the Pieck 1M & 2M definitives was first issued on 3 February (Mi. 342 I) and 3 January 1953 (M. 343 I) respectively. On the 1M there were two subsequent changes catalogued Mi.342 II (no issue date in Michel Spezial) and 342 III (issued Sept. 1955). Type I had a picture size of 28 x 23mm with a somewhat blurred image (raster resolution 70); on Type II the picture size was slightly smaller at 27.5 x 22.5 mm but still with a blurred image. On Type III however they at last got it right with the image size still at 27.5 x 22.5mm but the image was sharper (raster resolution 100) I'm sorry your picture did not appear, we do have intermittent problems with picture attachements on our message boards particularly sometimes if the image is at too high a resolution (rather like the story of the Pieck stamp!).
