Message: | Alec, thank you for the information. You have confirmed my suspicions. The idea behind the cards design seemed to be similar to a previous German idea for simplifying international communications. We have a 1911 mock-up of a German international reply stamp as a replacement for the more cumbersome coupon. An idea that was popular at the time, but failed largely because of WWI.
