I am researching Indian Foreign Postage Rates during the Victorian era. I have been unable to find the exact dates when the various German Protectorates became members of the UPU.
Indian Postal Guides indicate that Cameroons and New Guinea were members by 1st April 1888 and that Togo (West Africa), Namaqua, Damaras, and part of Ovambo (South West Africa) and the the Marshall Islands were members by 1st Octber 1888.
The UPSS website states only: "1 Jun 1887: German Cameroons in membership, followed by other Potectorates during 1888-99".
Cold anyone please help me with the exact dates when each Proctorate joined the UPU, especially upto July 1892, when Indian foreign postage rates no longer distinguished between UPU members and non-members. |
