Posted on the first day of the new rate. Local Postcards were now 2 Mill and distant 4 Mill, so the rate written is correct. I note it is boxed, would this be with blue crayon??? A 4 Million Mark value was never issued, however two of the 2 Million stamps could have been used. They most probably had none available. During the inflation period, although the Reichspost was responsible for setting the rates, a degree of pre-judgement was necessary. This in its turn resulted in values produced that met no rate, or at least not exactly. Furthermore there were distribution problems in ensuring all PO's had stamps to meet the new rates on the day of change.
Dienstmarke verrechnet means that the cost/charge was entered in the official day book of the office sending the item. Einnahmenachweis was only written on an item of mail at the accepting post-office. Official mail was taken straight to the PO and passed for sorting. It was not handled by counter-clerks.
