Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Hi Roger. The first 'stamp' you describe is one of a set of propoganda labels produced shortly after the German Empire lost her colonial interests as a consequence of the First World War, the black margins and the flag at half mast mourning the loss of the territories (hence they tend to be referred to as 'colonial mourning labels' and the like. There is such a label for each of the colonies which used the 'yacht' key types. The postal authorities also produced a small souvenir poster to mount the complete set on. I don't have much more in the way of detail as labels aren't my area but they are quite well known and so I am sure there must be some research on them and a more knowledgable member might be able to help. You do see sets around, complete with presentation sheet. £100 seems the going rate. I'd love to find one on cover but I guess that would be fairly unusual.
