Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Dear Ray, The discussion thread at http://www.altpostgeschichte.com/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=1476 may help you on this. It seems that in order to prevent information leaking about large troop movements mail was delayed. The website http://www.greatwar.co.uk/battles/#1915battles mentions allied Autumn 1915 offensives in Artois and Champagne which forced the German Second, Third, Fifth and Seventh armies to withdraw towards the Belgian border. With regard to my own area of interest, Danzig, I note from the Wolff catalogue that a handstamp ‘Aus militärischen Gründen verzögert’ was used there, with earliest known use 26.11.15, which implies a similar need for secrecy at that time on the Eastern front. Hope this helps, Giles.
