The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: I am studying WW1 censorship of commercial mail. I have found four commercial covers all dated in late November 1915, two addressed to Denmark and two to Switzerland. They all have the cachet Aus militärischen Gründen verzögert in various formats and have been delayed from 7-11 days according to arrival backstamps. Only one of these has a normal commercial censorship marking, of Freiburg (Baden) on the front, and none have the usual markings on the back flaps. Incidentally, I also have two POW enquiry covers addressed to the Danish Red Cross from the same period which have the same cachet on them but there are no backstamps on these. When I bought one of these covers, I was told that Germany blocked mail to neutral countries for a short time to ensure sensitive information was not leaked. I cannot find any significant event at this time that would justify this temporary delay in mail. Can anybody tell me any more about this, please?
