Message: | I am curious about the item mentioned. When was the cover mailed? Haiti was under firm U.S. control between 1915 and 1934. I assume the ship was interned even before the U.S. entered the war on April 6, 1917. I have read a good deal in both English and French about Haiti under U.S. occupation, and I do not recall having seen any reference to German warships in the vicinity of Haiti.
