Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Recorded letters would have been entered in the book, and a copy of the Proof of Posting handed to the sender. These forms can be found from time to time. Although you state the cancel is faint most scanning programmes permit you to alter colours such that faint marks etc. can be "exagerated". 61/2N or 6½N simply means 6.30pm. At this period in time the recipient often had to collect such items from the post office. There are several spellings for the word Recommandirt. regards Nigel
