Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Hi Ben. Thanks for the info - which is useful background in building up the story and I look forward to hearing if you do manage to find any other sources. I have just ordered, via the Internet, an English language book "The postal history and postmarks of the Franco-Prussian war and after 1870-1871" by Wilfrid Bentley. I should have this by the end of the coming week. If it sheds light on my specific query - I'll post a follow-up message on this message board. Kind regards Giles
