Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Dear Terry, Michel Deutschland Spezial 2022 gives an issue date for 115 Aa (perf.) of 1.8.1916, then 1920 for 115 Ab and Jan. 1920 for 115Ac. 115Ba (imperf.) was issued 4.3.1920. I think it is not uncommon in many countries for subsequent printings of definitives bearing a particular monarch's head to carry on being reprinted for a while after that monarch's reign, whilst a new design is being worked up. The stamp printings (b & c) with shade differences may well have been printed some considerable time before their actual issue date in order to use them up. According to Michel 115 Aa and Ba (but not Ab & c) were overprinted 'Volkstaat Bayern' for 1.3.1919 and 4.3.1920 issue respectively which may indicate thay there was a considerable amount of stock to use up. One needs to bear in mind also the considerable political turmoil in Bavaria at the time which surely would have made life very difficult for the postal authorities Kind regards, Giles.
