The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).
The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.
I've recently acquired a stockbook from eBay with a number of random collecting areas, thankfully for me it was mainly DDR and Local Post. However in amongst it all I found what seems to be a corner of a postcard. The first stamp is a DDR 10pf postmarked 195? and the second an Austrian stamp postmarked 17th August 1967. Could it be this postcard went through the DDR AND Austrian postal service in two different decades with old frankings on? Did the Austrian postal service not mind that it hand old frankings on, so long as the current Austrian postage was paid?
