The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).
The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.
Within the Society I am sure there are several who like to collect the Inflation issues. But how many actually when they see something described as expertised, take that as a 100% guarantee they are buying the genuine article?
No matter where you buy material it pays to check carefully. For example recently a Michel 115d was bought as being expertised.(see 1st image attached below).
Now look closely at the second image and what do you see that could be wrong?
Ok maybe everyone doesn't look closely at expertisers marks. But even under a minimum magnifaction the colour expertisation letter looks "not quite right"
I can see that the "c" has been changed to a "d" So obviously someone has attempted to make a €12 stamp into a €250 one.
The last image confirms that the original expertisation is a forgery. So please do be that little bit more careful when buying expertised material. No matter what the area, look and learn before you throw away your hard earned cash.
