Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: In the Michel specialised catalogue, after the main 1948 listing of the currency reform overprinted stamps, which as you say did not include the 5Pf green value (Mi. Nr. 915), there is a supplementary issue of June/Aug 1948 which does. The catalogue states that this supplementary issue of various stamps from the First Control Commission issue with both the ribbon and net overprints (except for the 2, 3 & 5M values which had net overprints only), was not recognised by the main postal authority. Nevertheless use of the stamps for postage was not contested. Most of the Pfennig values are priced moderately where mint but much higher genuinely used. The Michel catalogue number of the 5Pf is IV/I (ribbon) & IV/II (net). There are forgeries especially of the more highly catalogued stamps. Regards Giles du Boulay Chairman G&CPS
