Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: hello Phillip I have searched through various German stamp catalogues and find no reference to a stamp commemorating Rev Fr Gnanapragasar. I note some references on the internet, perhaps the publications to which you refer, but I think someone made a mistake intially then others have simply copied it. For example one of the references stated that Germany issued such a stamp in 1945. After the last few Third Reich issues in 1945, and the fall of the Third Reich there were a number of local issues in Germany mainly, quite understandably, very functional and inward looking in design and subject and then various stamps issued by the Allied administrations along the same lines. Another reference linked the supposed stamp to etymology so I looked for any sets in the postwar years on this subject including linguistics without success. Regards Giles du Boulay Chairman, G&CPS
