Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: The Michel specialised catalogues usually state whether black proof prints are available under the relevant stamp or stamp set listings. The Society's library holds two volumes which may be of interest: - 'Designs, Essays, Proofs, Special Printings of Postage Stamps and Stationery, Germany 1849–1932: Definition of Terms and Description of Types' by Theuss, Peter U. 1993 - 'Essais und Probedrucke altdeutscher Staaten [essays and proofs] by Doberer, K. K., 1963. The titles can be borrowed free (except for postage) by the Society's UK members Giles du Boulay G&CPS publications manager
