Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: According to the BDP e.V. data-bank ‘who is who in philately’ (Wer ist wer in der Philatelie) by Wolfgang Maassen. The founder of the FIDACOS Ersttagsbriefesdienst, in 1952, was the philatelist Paul-Heinz Mädler who was born in 1918 in Mülheim a.d.R. His company produced many FDCs and his business was taken over in 1981 by Oscar Anhut who continued using the Fidacos logo. It seems they are a company somewhat like Benham in the UK who privately produce FDCs for collectors. Whilst the designs may be attractive in my opinion officially produced FDCs from any postal administration are likely to have greater market value than privately produced ones in the long run.
