Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: In my view it is essential that where it is necessary or desirable to have German stamps expertised, they should be expertised by an expertiser approved by the Bund Philatelischer Prüfer e.V. The names and addresses of expertisers (usually including their e-mail addresses)according to their differing areas of specialism is given at the back of each of the two volumes of the Michel Deutschland Spezial catalogue. You will usually need to be able to correspond in German, but not always. My advice is to select just a couple of stamps to start with, look up the relevant expertisers (there are often more than one for any given area)then e-mail each of them to ask for procedure. The promptness, helpfulness etc of their replies will guide your choice. Hope this helps a little Giles du Boulay
