Message: | Hi Denni, The stamps you describe I am sure are overprinted Inflation stamps from 1923. The number and then Tausend below. The overprints were applied to many old German stamps with new values from Aug - Dec 1923. Unfortunately in mint condition they are not worth much at all because they were printed in the millions of sheets. A few could be better stamps is if they are in perfect unmounted mint condition with the upper sheet margin still attached. To get an idea of mint values you need a stamp catalogue such as one by Michel ( Germany) , Scott (USA) or Stanley Gibbons (UK). You can often borrow such catalogues from your local library.
