Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: The "German" overprints on AMG stamps and postal cards have been around for a long time. The authoritative Handbuch Katalog Die AM-Post-Marken, die Verwendungen und zeittypischen Besonderheiten (2000) discusses the items on page 100-101. The "German" overprints were privately applied, but they did see service, even on registered mail. The handbook prices mint stamps at 10 Euros, used at 15, and covers at 50. Benjamin R. Beede
