Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Hello Amberly, Thanks for your enquiry. It's good to read that you are looking to expand on the collection. I am not quite sure when you say 1940s stamps, whether you mean wartime period or post-war. If the stamps are from the wartime period (and before) then the Michel Germany Specialised catalogue in English provides comprehensive information on the stamps and on postal rates. Information on postmarks is more difficult to find brought together in one volume in English. Simplified information on all the stamps, including the post-war ones can be found in the Stanley Gibbons Germany catalogue. We are a UK based Society (although we have many US members), so I cannot advise on American catalogues. By joining a specialised Society like ours (or the GPS in the US)you will regularly receive a first-class journal and access to a number of other sources of information. We can supply the catalogues I mentioned above at 20% discount, although the postage to the US would rather negate that discount. Regards Giles du Boulay Chairman Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
