Message: | Hello Amberly, Thanks for your enquiry. It's good to read that you are looking to expand on the collection. I am not quite sure when you say 1940s stamps, whether you mean wartime period or post-war. If the stamps are from the wartime period (and before) then the Michel Germany Specialised catalogue in English provides comprehensive information on the stamps and on postal rates. Information on postmarks is more difficult to find brought together in one volume in English. Simplified information on all the stamps, including the post-war ones can be found in the Stanley Gibbons Germany catalogue. We are a UK based Society (although we have many US members), so I cannot advise on American catalogues. By joining a specialised Society like ours (or the GPS in the US)you will regularly receive a first-class journal and access to a number of other sources of information. We can supply the catalogues I mentioned above at 20% discount, although the postage to the US would rather negate that discount.
