I wonder German collectors can help me with the attached.
It is a card sent from one stamp collector/dealer to another - he signs himself off offering ‘Sammlergrussen’. What attracted me in the first place were the words ‘John Bull’ which rather stand out.
Anyway what I have been able to work out so far is that:
1. He is acknowledging the receipt of cards from the addressee, but warning him that his trip to Vienna has to be postponed and therefore asking him to use a different address (Frau Dirham). The is a reference here to ‘Flugpost ….’ and I don’t quite understand what it is he is saying he will accept. Airmail labels?
2. He goes on to ask that mail should be registered with “W.H’ - but I’ve no idea what this may be - or with commemorative cancels or something I can’t work out - it looks like ‘Horsfeu’ with ‘accompanying labels?’
3. He says his addressee has his ’Swops list’, but then goes straight on to say what I read as ‘hoffe in Friedensjahre 1942 Tausch fortzusetzen, da die Hiebe in Russland so ausgisbig sind dass vool bald much John Bull an die Reihe kommt’. The last bit I get -' the attack has gone so well in Russia that it will be John Bull’s turn next’, but I can’t quite understand if that links with the first part of the sentence about a peaceful 1942.
4. Finally, he seems to be setting price limits for material to be sent - from half a Mark to 18 marks - but the abbreviation appears to be Mk rather than RM.
It’s all made a bit difficult by the disjointed style, and the fact that he seems to be using a mix of German handwriting styles current at the time.
