The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).
The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.
Can anyone explain the attached cover? It was originally franked 12Pf Hitler for transmission via the DDP Niederlande but for some reason this seems to have been counter-manded by the violter cacher 'ueber Dienstpostamt Rotterdam' and a 10c NL stamp used instead. What were the respective roles of the 2 services and why was one preferred over the other here? Many thanks for any ideas.
