Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Your cover is typical official mail. Regulations were laid down to differentiate between official correspondence and ordinary post-office mail. Each official item had to show a blue cross running diagonally from corner to corner. In addition, such mail had to signify that it was to be handled by the Dienstpost, usually by the application of a rubber handstamp, an adhesive label and sometimes by hand or typewriter. This would normally read 'Deutsche Dienstpost Ukraine' (German Official Post Ukraine) or something very similar. See also Germania Volume 56, Number 3, p. 160.
