Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Hi, Bill, The name of the town was Gnadenfrei, in Silesia. It became this officially in 1928, previously been known as Ober Peilau, this being a tranlation of its previous Polish name of Piława Górna. It reverted to this in 1945. There are historical references to the town as Guadeufrei or Guadeufrey, going back to its foundation in the 1700s, so perhaps the old spelling was in use in the camp. Hope this helps, Charles.
