Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Hello Mike – I don't think it's an expertiser's mark but was probably applied by a dealer. Some dealers did this to identify particular stamps as having been sold by them to prevent a buyer returning a different stamp complaining that the one sold was not acceptable. Some dealers also applied such marks setting themselves up as expertisers. The infamous dealer Ruberg in Danzig did this even on the stamps which he had fraudulently overprinted ! He ended up in jail... Giles
