The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Helene Mayer (1910 - 1953) Despite the fact she was Jewish she was invited to join the German fencing team in 1936 Olympics by the German Sports Leader Hand von Tschammer und Osten. Although she was German she was living in USA at the time. Taking part in the Games would give her the opportunity to see her family in Germany, she advocated that sport was for everybody and not for politicians to interfere with. She won the Silver medal, and in 1937 became world Champion. After the Games she returned to California. After the war she got married. She died of cancer in 1953.
