Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: My reading of this cover is that it was sent by a firm working with the German administration. Despite that, it was not authorized to use Dienstpost facilities. Once the DDPN clerk realized the error, the cover was returned and then put the Dutch postal system. Are you familiar with the Wohlfahrt book on the Deutsche Dientpost Niederlande? It does not seem to mention this specific situation but is very detailed. There is an area of World War II covers that needs more work, in my opinion: use of the postal systems of occupied countries by the German occupation authorities. I have a few covers from France, including one surprising item, a cover sent by the German police to Switzerland [no charge levied] through the French postal system. I think that must have been a mistake, although one may suppose that in many respects the police did what they wanted. Another attempted German free franking through the French postal system was rewarded by postage due! Ben Beede
