Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Dear John, Without a picture to be sure it sounds like these are labels found on insured letters looking rather like the registration labels seen on registered letters, but as you say often on an orange-coloured paper; but also yellow and red are found. The 'V label' (or in German 'V-Zettel', and an internet search for this term should produce results) stands for 'Valeur déclarée', in French because of UPU rules. There are collectors of both registration R labels and insured letter V labels on their own but I would suggest the whole covers themselves should yield much more of interest as they are often highly franked to cover the appropriate letter rate, the registration fee and an insurance premium based on the declared value of the contents which should be written on the cover, usually at the top. Kind regards Giles
