Message: | hello Steve, my 2003 4th edition of the Schantl Plattenfehler Katalog does not list this flaw. Despite your finding two examples I doubt whether it was a constant variety. I think the notch would have been caused by a bit of foreign matter on the printing plate which persisted for a while until it was either cleaned off or fell off (as you say a "confetti flaw"). Other similar flaws on this issue (four of them) listed by Schantl are each described as applying to a part of the issue only (Teilauflage). Best wishes Giles | ||||||||||||||||||||
