Message: | Hello Michael The stamp seems simply to be an ink offset usually caused when a sheet of stamps picks up ink that is still wet from a sheet stacked below it (also possible with rotary printing). In my experience such offset stamps are not uncommon although not often seen on stamps from the Reichsdruckerei during normal times. But when they were under extreme pressure to produce high volumes of stamps quality control did slip. cheers Giles | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
