Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Hello Allan Not having SG I can't reconcile the SG nos you quote with my 2011 Michel (and please note the Society can supply any SG or Michel catalogue at 20% discount). In my catalogue the used prices in Euros of individual Bundesrepublik stamps(not including mini-sheets)from say the years 2007 to 2009 range from 0.80 to 5.00 (one only spotted that high) with the majority falling between 1 - 1.50. The market reality is, however, that a collector attempting to sell such stamps would be lucky to do so at all even at a few pence per stamp when sold in quantity. If on the other hand you are looking to buy genuinely used examples of the more modern stamps an appeal to fellow Society members may well bear fruit. Many keep envelopes in which they received auction catalogues, lots etc franked plentifully with stamps. For example I have quite a few, some soaked off, some on cut pieces waiting to be soaked off and some on covers. Over the years I've seen plastic bags full of such offered in our regional group auctions usually for around a pound or two. Cheers, Giles.
