Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Hello Geoff - The P.R.1erR. does indeed stand for Prusse 1er Rayon - applied at the Prussian border. In 1853 the Rayon system had been reorganised such that there were only three Rayons, rather than the former five for rating mail from Prussia to France. Thus one also finds P.R.2erR. & P.R.3erR. There are variants of all there marks with different spacings, full stop inclusions, boxed, unboxed, typeface etc. Best wishes Giles
