The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Hi Alex, I had this reply from Germany The costs for products and services rose, continuously and faster and faster inn the 1920's. The postal rates did the same. To avoid the never ending printing of new postcards with new numerals of value, the Reichspost took old postcards and added surcharges of value prints. Beginning in March 1922 they added the value of 85 Pfg. to the original value of 40 Pfg. on the card to be send to foreign countries. And because the costs of production of postcards, consequence of the rising prices for paper, rose too, the Reichspost began at February, 12th, 1921, to add surcharges for the paper price. They did it separately, to show that this price increase could not be influenced by the Reichspost. m Germany :-
