Message: | Hello Bill, it's a bit difficult from the scan to make out the address on the registered C.O.D. envelope, the date, and the set of stamps used - but it appears to have beeen sent German inland, franked with the 26 June 1943 set commemorating the 8th anniversary of the Arbeitsdienst - Mi. 850-853 - with a total postage value of 26Pf. Given that, at the time the letter rate up to 20g was 12Pf but 24Pf for a letter weighing 20-250g, which this letter may have weighed - so probably it was 2Pf philatelically overfranked. The registration fee was 30Pf and the C.O.D. (Nachnahme) fee 30Pf - so the 50Pf stamp accounts for those two fees. Cheers, Giles. | ||||||||||||||||||||
