Message: | Bill, the slogan 'STADT DER AUSLANDSDEUTSCHEN' was a National Socialist political slogan meaning, basically, 'City of Foreign Germans', that is those Germans living outside of the Reich, mostly Sudeten Germans. It implied that Stuttgart had the administrative responsibility for Germans living in Czechloslovakia and Poland. Several towns and cities had similar slogans, most famous being Munich, the 'STADT DER BEWEGUNG', or City of the Movement (Nazi party). This was carried on into the post war years, especially in the BIZONE area, for example Frankfurt am Main was the City of Finance, which it remains to this day. | ||||||||||||||||||||
