I suspected that it was a misuse of 'forerunner' (in order to put up the price!!) but never having seen it used in this way before I thought that it was one of the many things that I do not know about Philately. The covers are certainly interesting - I know a lot more about Kassuben and Skaisgirren now. They were part of a batch of 30 German Covers which I found on Ebay - no less - for a fiver. Several others warrant research but Ostpreussen interests me so these were the first two that I looked at. Do you know a good website for Postal Rates in Germany ca 1900? Thanks again.
