Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: I can't comment on the particular Frankfurt postmark illustrated. However, the remark that it was registered for use in Frankfurt in December 1962, "just before 4-figure postcodes were introduced in West Germany", is incorrect. These PLZ and the first postmarks bearing them were introduced in late 1961. I have several commercially used from December 1961 and one dated 18.11.61 (see scan). My latest, a blank FDC of the 15Pf Luther definitive postmarked ‘Frankfurt am Main 16 / ? / 18.-9.61-12 / 6’, is open to doubt as a possible forgery. The others aren't.
