Sir,
collecting German colonies is a vast field full of dangers where fakes constitute a significant risk to the novice collector. DSWA as a field is highly interesting with many events such as the Herero War and other tribal uprisings giving rise to many provisional items. I welcome that you are seeking advice and I am willing to give more in depth analysis, just a few facts. South West Africa had most cancels with also most of the outstanding colonial rarities, hence postal history at least at the top end of the market can be very pricey.
