Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: Unfortunately there is a shortage of quality material for the packet. Hence the reason why not so many packets are in circulation. Currently there are nine areas of the UK to cover and we simply do not have sufficient better material to send out as many packets as members may like to receive. The packet relies on members submiting material. Many are and do submit cheaper material which is required also. However due to the high cost of postage for members that have to post the box on it is important that there is a good choice and mixture of material available. If only cheap material was sent out many members would find very little to buy and when faced with postage costs it is not economical for them to continue receiving the packet. Some have asked for smaller packets to be sent out to reduce postage costs. To do this however would mean a vast increase in the amount of time needed to organise and run. I am still in full time employment and simply do not have the time to cope with such an increase in workload for the society. Please bear in mind that all GCPS work is done voluntarily and try as we may it is impossible to satisfy the needs of everyone all the time. Should anyone wish to discuss this matter further I can be contacted at home most evenings after 7pm on, 01268-557181
