I would like to touch upon a general matter I have come across in the last 6 to 8 month. Maybe some of you had a similar experience . If so, it would be great to hear about this. I would like to start by saying how much I appreciate the service the society is providing through John Waterfall regarding the booklets. John is super efficient in handling the large volume of booklets he must receive year in and year out. He is very helpful, if there ever is a problem (which is extremely rare) and having now finished my 118th booklet, I must say, that I could not be any happier buying and selling stamps through this excellent service !
However something has recently started to happen, which has become a great source of irritation to me. During the last 6 - 8 month, after John returned my finished booklets, I have noticed, that there have been alterations to my descriptions within some of those booklets concerning 3 stamps I had offered for sale. Someone either crossed out my original description or wrote next to it voicing his opinion, that my description was wrong and that the stamps described were such and such a variety and not what I had written. As one would suspect, those alteration were made anonymous of course, with no initials or name and were also completely wrong, whereas my description was correct.
I hope, that whoever did this, will read this e-mail, as I must strongly object against this practise. I find it arrogant and ignorant to the extreme ( in particular as this person does not know what he is talking about) and no one should have the right to start messing around with other members booklets. There are no justifications for anyone to do something as rude as this and this is completely out of order and needs to stop at once !
Nobody is perfect, including me and mistakes can be made in particular, when dealing with older stamps due to a variety of reasons. If indeed anyone has a different opinion on either colour or variety and is concerned about this, this person should contact John , who, I am sure, would happily contact me and let me know, so I can investigate, if indeed I made a mistake or not. But altering my descriptions (or anyone elses for this matter) and doing so under the cloak of anonymity must stop at once and I can't make it any clearer how annoying , rude and ignorant I find this behaviour and how surprised I am to find this happening in our society.
