The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).
The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.
I have just acquired a card date-stamped 28.3.46 sent from Bremen to Hannover with a typed message on the reverse. The card is printed with 6pf pre-paid. It also had an altered machine meter mark for 6pf applied together with a 6pf stamp. This totals 18pf. According to my Michel, the domestic postal rate at this time for postcards was 12pf. Has this card been overpaid or am I missing something?
