Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society
The year 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first year of operation of the Germany & Colonies Philatelic Society following the amalgamation of the Germany & Colonies Stamp Club (established 1947) and the Stockton German Study Group (1960).

The G&CPS celebrated its inaugural year in 1964 with the first Germania Posta philatelic exhibition held in Stockton.

Message: I have picked up a used copy of a Hamburg 4 Schilling green. On the face of it an imperforate copy (1859, SG5/6, Mi5) it would accordingly be a valuable stamp. However, I suspect that it is more likely to be trimmed version of the perforate copy (1864, SG32/3, Mi16). My researches so far lead me to believe that the stamp and postmark are probably genuine. So the question is: Is there any other way of telling these two issues apart other than by the presence/absence of perforation? Many thanks for any advice. Cheers, Allan Finlayson, Linlithgow.
